LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE...

“Let your light shine before men that others may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven.” (Mathew 5:16)
Our life is a reflection of our inner being, be it darkness or light. In other words, by your fruits you shall be known. An apple tree cannot bear orange fruits nether can an elephant give birth to rats. Simply put, the life you live goes a long way to showcase your inclinations and what you are made of.

From the ongoing, believers are seen as the light of the world. They brighten the dark and shady parts of this life. They reflect peace, goodness and love of God in all they do. Your life as a child of God is a mirror to the world. Permit me to state that so many unbelievers or backslidden Christians that you know are not keen to read the bible anymore. You are the bible that they read and study every day. It is now left for you to determine the message you wish to encode to them.

Dressing is one of the many avenues that a child of God reflects what he/she has inside. Indecent dressing does not define a child of God, for the ladies, this can lead to sexual abuse. I can hear someone saying “but the Lord sees the heart” yes! The Lord sees the heart but unbelievers do not see your heart, they only behold your outward appearance and the character which you portray. Thus, don’t let your character or dressing be a discouragement to those people out there who are looking up to you for a godly lifestyle.

Do not join the multitude to do the mundane things of this world; you ought to stand out for Jesus. The bible declares  in 1 Corinthians 6:12“All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient; all things are lawful unto me, but I will not be brought under the power of any” a believer should not join an Aluta group or be involved in fomenting disturbances in the society or in your place of work. Whatsoever be the issue, take it to The Lord in prayer and He will solve it for you. He tells us in Philippians 4:6 “Be careful for nothing but by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.”

Basically, a believer is to live a life of sobriety, humility, meekness, comportment and a descent lifestyle. You are to live a steadfast life not only at the point of salvation but till the coming of our Lord Jesus. The word of God says in Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ lives in Me.” a life which is characterized with God’s light is worthy of emulation. Do not go back to darkness; let the light of Jesus continue to shine in you. Galatians 2:18 says “If I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor”. You cannot afford to go back to those things you rejected which Christ nailed on the cross of Calvary.

Interestingly, God desires that you also should shine in all areas of your endeavors. His delight is to see that you are living in good health, prosperity, sound mind etc. Think about how you will feel when your children look unkempt and  your aged parents look beggarly, it is really sad.  That is the way Christ (King of Kings) feels when there is no excellence in you. Don’t you know that unbelievers will mock Christ when you do not look your best?. You are a heir, do not feed on crumbs. Those riches are already in stock you, go get them!

It is conventional for birds to fly with two wings, once one of the wings is cut off; its movement will be affected as one wing cannot function in isolation. You need Jesus to shine in life for without Him, you can do nothing. ”For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works” (Titus 2:11-14)
