RESISTING TEMPTATION

(1 Corinthians 10:13)There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Everyday of our lives, we are inherently faced with diverse choices and temptation hunts our feelings. Sometimes the temptation come out to be minor( at least as most people think) while others come out to be major. Temptations work through our spirits. It emerges in form of a recurrent strong willed suggestion. It is left with you as an individual to fall for or resist temptation.

As noted earlier, temptation comes through strong wiled suggestions which apparently comes from the devil. Some persons make the mistake of saying that God tempts them. Lets see what the bible is saying concerning that in James 1:13 "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man". Now, the devil being so crafty makes such temptations alluring in such a way that a flesh-controlled individual finds it difficult to let go. The bible tell us in James 1:14 "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed".

Temptation is not only when a child of God falls for fornication, stealing, adultery, alcoholism  etc. There are Such other temptations as greed as in the case of Gehazi in (2 Kings 5:20) Hatred and envy as it was with Joseph and his brothers (Genesis 37:5) and so much more. Some persons are tempted to eat whatsoever that come their way, spend their last dime on inconsequential shopping, tell unnecessary lies that hunts them afterwards, some go all out to seduce people of the opposite sex and trust me, they regret it afterwards because when the devil succeeds in getting them into sin, satan jumps clear by the side and mock them for being so cheap.

WARNING: Devil will always use your weak points to tempt you, be at alert and beware!

Nobody will ever say that he/ she can never be tempted. Even our Lord Jesus was tempted by the devil. From time to time devil tempts me, Yes he does, but the spirit of God is always there to notify me that satan is at it again and by the grace of God I overcomes. That is more reason why I pray to God everyday before going out that He(Jesus) should help me to overcome the fiery darts of the devil.

What kind of temptation are you currently and regularly going through? Desire to cheat on your spouse? File in for divorce? No control over material things? Whatever is it? Jesus is the only help you will ever have. The only way to overcome temptation in these last days is through the help of the Holy Spirit. Although the temptation will always seem to be stronger, but God will always be there to make for you a way of escape. You will also resist temptation by studying the word of God and speaking it always. "Resist the devil and he will flee from you"
