REST

Mark 6:30-32.   And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. And they departed into a desert place by ship privately”
Have you ever paused and analyzed the outrageous causes of heart attacks and high blood pressure as it’s rampant in the world today? It is alarming the rate by which we sometimes tend to work off our bodies as if they are rocks, even rocks do break!

In our text under study, our Lord Jesus teaches us about the importance of rest through the way He enjoined His disciples to rest for a while before they will continue on their outreach.

When we talk about resting, we are not suggesting that people should lazy around and not be fruitful in the endeavors. In essence, as children of God, we must create good times to rest our bodies and brains.  Plan family weekend outings, picnics amongst others. We are told in Genesis 2:3 that God after creating man rested on the seventh day.
The importance of rest really cannot be overemphasized. Some persons are in the habit of trying to cheat nature, if God had not made night they definitely will want to work round the clock. Sisters, we all need rest from the hassles of this life, both family and secular hassles. We need Jesus to crown our efforts and give us rest. Jesus says in Mathew 11:28 ‘ come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest’.  There is no amount of stress and worry you are going through that Jesus cannot help you to fix and give you rest. Take those worries and heartbreaks to Jesus today, trust in Him and He will grant your weary heart a good rest.
